Lugnuts one-hit Snappers, 5-1

BELOIT, Wisc. – Ryan Tepera pitched five no-hit innings and the Lansing Lugnuts (12-10; 48-43) settled for a one-hit victory over the sloppy Beloit Snappers (8-13; 45-45), 5-1, on Saturday night at Pohlman Field.

Beloit committed four errors in the fourth inning, two by center fielder Wang Wei Lin, helping the Lugnuts score four decisive runs against starter B.J. Hermsen (4-6).

Tepera (8-4) took it from there, striking out five and plunking one. The Snappers' only run came in the fifth inning against the Texan right-hander, thanks to three walks and a run-scoring wild pitch.

With two outs in the sixth inning, Steven Liddle flared a single into shallow left-center against reliever Aaron Loup. With the no-hit bid broken, Loup combined with Nestor Molina to set down the final 10 Snappers batters of the game.

Kevin Nolan doubled twice in five at-bats to spearhead the Lugnuts offense.

Lansing right-hander Ryan Shopshire (6-7, 5.19) goes to the mound on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET, opposed by Beloit right-hander Michael Tonkin (2-6, 4.20).

The Lugnuts return home to Cooley Law School Stadium on Wednesday, July 21st, beginning a stretch of nine home games in 10 days. Tickets to all Lugnuts home games are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
