Lugnuts to auction jerseys for charity
LANSING, Mich. – The Lansing Lugnuts are proud to announce the 2006 Lugnuts Jersey Off Our Backs Auction. The team will be auctioning off game worn road jerseys from this season. The auction will conclude at Oldsmobile Park on Saturday, August 26 as a part of Lugnuts Charities Night presented by Dan Henry Distributing when the Lugnuts host the South Bend SilverHawks. Proceeds from the auction will go to Lugnuts Charities that benefit the United Way.
"We are very excited to host Lugnuts Charities Night again at Oldsmobile Park," General Manager Jeff Calhoun said. "The Lugnuts are committed to assisting the Lansing community. The auction is a terrific way for us to give back and for Lugnuts fans to bid on a unique souvenir."
The auction will begin on Saturday, August 19 at 9:00 a.m. on the Lugnuts official website, www.lansinglugnuts.com. The web auction will run through Saturday, August 26, 2006 at noon. Starting bids will be $95.00 for each jersey. At the close of the website auction, the highest bids will be used as starting bids at the live silent auction during Lugnuts Charities Night on August 26, 2006. At the conclusion of the live silent auction on the 26th, the winners will be announced. Winning bidders may claim their jerseys after the announcement on the field.
Fans who are unable to attend the game on August 26 are encouraged to place the highest possible bid on their favorite players’ jerseys to give them their best chance to win the jersey. Descriptions of each jersey,
including size, may be found at www.lansinglugnuts.com when the auction
begins.
This is the second consecutive year that the Lugnuts have auctioned off game-worn jerseys. Last season, the Lugnuts auctioned home jerseys as a part of Lugnuts Charities Night.
