Estanga named Midwest League Post-Season All-Star

LANSING, Mich. – The Midwest League announced today that Lansing reliever Edgar Estanga has been named as a Post-Season All-Star. Estanga is the only Lugnuts player to receive the honor, which is voted on by all 14 field managers in the Midwest League.

A native of Maturin Managas, Venezuela, Estanga has been dominant for the Lugnuts this season. He currently holds a 9-3 record with a 3.12 ERA while garnering nine saves. He is also third on the Lugnuts staff with 98 innings pitched despite being used exclusively as a reliever this year.

"He's been tremendous," Lansing manager Clayton McCullough said. "We've used him in a variety of roles this season and he's been our jack-of-all-trades."

Estanga also participated in the Midwest League All-Star Game at Dow Diamond in June. He has made the most appearances of any Lugnuts pitcher this season, as he has been summoned into a game 43 different times.

"Edgar has been a vital part of our success this season," McCullough added. "He's answered the call for us repeatedly, especially because we have leaned on him heavily at times out of the bullpen."
