Lugnuts release 2009 schedule

LANSING, Mich. – The Lansing Lugnuts announced the official schedule for the 2009 season, the club's 14th in Michigan's capital city.

The 2009 season will begin on Thursday, April 9 when the Lugnuts host Fort Wayne at Oldsmobile Park.

This season the schedule features 20 LAFCU Fireworks nights, 11 Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursdays, three Auto-Owners Insurance Bobblehead Giveaways, the introduction of Dollar Dog Tuesdays, and several other new and returning promotions for fans.

”We are very excited with the the schedule turned out for next season,” Lugnuts General Manager Pat Day said. “LAFCU Fireworks and Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursdays are some of our most popular nights, so we are extremely happy to present plenty of opportunities for our fans to take advantage of those evenings. However, we are also looking forward to unveiling Dollar Dog Tuesdays and of course we will be bringing in some of the best entertainers in all of sports.”

The Lugnuts will begin a new tradition in 2009, Dollar Dog Tuesdays. Nine times this year, fans will have the opportunity to take advantage of baseball while enjoying $1 hot dogs all night long.

Also, the many entertainers that come to Oldsmobile Park are all a part of the popular Summer Entertainment Series presented by WILX. On May 30, Myron Noodleman, the coolest nerd around checks in for his annual appearance at Oldsmobile Park. The series continues on July 16 with Neil Diamond Tribute Night and concludes August 27 with Pink Floyd Tribute Night. Both evenings will feature a post-game concert in Luggie's Party Patio in left field.

”In addition to these great acts, we are very happy to bring several new and returning theme nights to our fans,” Day said. “We always have a lot of fun with these evenings and after their success in the last few years, we wanted to expand upon them this season to give our fans more of the innovative entertainment that they have come to expect from us.”

Events like Country Night (June 27), Superhero Night (July 31), Jimmy Buffett Night (August 8), have been joined this year by 70s Night (April 23), 80s Night (June 11), 90s Night (September 3), and Circus Night (May 30).
