Junior Press is a program that promotes journalism and encourages students to learn about this profession. Those invited to join the program will receive a press pass that allows them access to a pre-game interview with players and a media kit with current Lugnuts information.  Students are encouraged to prepare 3-5 questions for the press conference and will have the opportunity to ask these questions like true reporters.  Schools may select two students to participate in the program.

Students who take part in the Junior Press program are asked to write a story after the conclusion of the game that is similar in style to what you may see in the sports section of the newspaper. Stories that are e-mailed back to us will be reviewed and displayed on our web site for everyone to read!

For more information on the Junior Press Program contact your group sales representative at 517-485-4500.

STUDENT ARTICLES

I got the opportunity to interview Randy Boone and Ross Buckwalter. My first question was, “What is your favorite part of baseball?” They both said, “Playing with the team, meeting new people and the fans.” My second question was, “Do you like playing for the Lugnuts?” They both said they think it is fun, but moving to the next level is good too. My third question was “What was one of your hardest games this year?” They said it was in Iowa and it was cold. Buckwalter had to catch a pop fly with the sun in his eyes. My fourth question was, “Who is their dream team to play for someday?” Boone wants to play for the Texas and Buckwalter wants to play for Philly.

Being a Junior Reporter and meeting Boone and Buckwalter was fun. I learned a lot and had fun.
