Ginley's gem leads Lugs to win
Lansing blows open tight game late

Clinton, Iowa – A commanding performance by hurler Kyle Ginley lifted the Lansing Lugnuts to a 6-1 win over the Clinton LumberKings at Alliant Energy Field Saturday night.

Ginley (4-0) baffled the LumberKings for 7 2/3 innings while picking up the win. Ginley surrendered just five hits and one unearned run, which came in the eighth inning, en route to his fourth victory of the season. He also lowered his ERA to 0.89 with, as it was his third straight outing without surrendering an earned run.

The two teams played to a scoreless stalemate through five innings as the starting pitchers dominated the contest. It wasn't until the sixth when the Lugnuts were able to break the tie by plating a run off of Clinton reliever Fabio Castillo. Moises Sierra's line drive to left field got past a diving Tim Smith to start the inning for Lansing. Raul Barron then blooped a single into right field that brought Sierra home for the first run of the game.

Lansing blew the game open in the eighth inning by scoring five times while sending all nine batters to the plate. John Tolisano led the frame off with a double and came home on a Moises Sierra double to left-center field that doubled the lead to 2-0. After Raul Barron and Kevin Ahrens each reached to load the bases, Darin Mastroianni grounded into a fielder's choice that plated Sierra. Clinton shortstop Andres James then threw the ball away, allowing everyone to reach and Barron to score to make it a 4-0 game.

Manny Rodriguez's two-run double down the right field line capped the scoring at 6-0. The double ran his RBI total to 23 this season.

Lansing (13-8) and Clinton (14-5) will wrap the series up on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Nate Starner (1-2, 1.71) will take the hill for the Lugnuts. He will be opposed by the LumberKing's Ryan Tatusko
(0-0, 1.80).
